CTAHR Scholarships
There are various CTAHR scholarships available for students. Not all scholarship listed below are awarded each year. Students must meet the criteria for all scholarships unless otherwise specified (within each scholarship description). Applicants must be a full-time student in the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources (CTAHR) and attending classes on the UH Manoa campus. Types of CTAHR scholarships are as follows:

Alexander Napier Memorial Scholarship: In order to apply for this scholarship applicant should have a major of Animal Sciences, Food, and Agricultural Sciences, or Natural Resource Management or can be an undergraduate or graduate student and must be a resident of Hawaii.

Allene E.F. Chun Scholarship: Undergraduate or graduate student is eligible to apply for this scholarship, however, preference will be given to an undergraduate student and they must be a resident of Hawaii.
Andrew G. & Merle E. Hashimoto CTAHR Scholarship: Scholarship is available from any CTAHR major, however, preference will be given to bioengineering majors.

CTAHR Achievement Scholarship and CTAHR Alumni and Friends Scholarship: To apply for this scholarship application can be from any CTAHR major.

Dennis Y. & Brenda R. Teranishi Scholarship: Applicants should have a major of food technology or any agriculture related program are eligible. Applicant must be a graduate of a high school in Hawaii, should have some degree of financial need, but not necessarily as defined by federal guidelines.

George Yamane Scholarship: Applicants should have a major in Horticulture or related discipline. They must be a junior or senior and must be a resident of Hawaii.

Hawai‘i 4-H Alumni/Weinberg Scholarship: Applicant must be willing to volunteer with the 4-H Program (two 4-H sponsored activities/events during the academic year). They must have a GPA of 2.5 or above and must have completed his or her freshmen year with 25 or more credits at the time the scholarship is awarded.

Hawaii Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences Scholarship:Applicant must be in Family Resources or Food Science and Human Nutrition. They must be a senior and must be a resident of Hawaii are eligible.
Hawaii Florists and Shippers Association Scholarship: Applicant must be in the agriculture field. They can be an undergraduate or graduate student in order to apply for this scholarship.

Hiroki Kaku Memorial Scholarship: Applicant must be in agriculture, public health, nutrition, education or a related field. They must be a junior, senior or graduate student in order to apply for this scholarship.
Kenneth Cassman Scholarship: Scholarship is awarded to junior or senior, and they can be from any CTAHR major, but preference will be given to students in TPSS or NREM.

Jhamandas Watumull CTAHR Scholarship: Scholarship applications can be from any CTAHR major and they must be a senior in order to apply for this scholarship.

Mary and Marie Blanco Scholarship: Applicants can be from any CTAHR major and but preference will be given to an applicant who has graduated from a high school in Hawaii.

Monsanto Scholarship: Scholars should be in Agricultural Sciences major are eligible. They can be an undergraduate or graduate student and they should be a resident of the Hawaiian or Pacific Islands in order to apply for this scholarship.

Paul Singleton Scholarship: Applicant should be in Tropical Plant and Soil Sciences or Natural Resources and Environmental Management and they should have an interest in soil science are eligible to apply.

Richard Shimabukuro Memorial Scholarship: In order to apply for this scholarship applicant should be in an agricultural program and they must have a GPA of 3.5 or above.

Sachiyuki Masumoto Scholarship: Applicant can be from any CTAHR major and they can be an undergraduate or graduate student in order to apply for this scholarship.

Tadashi Higaki Scholarship: To apply for this scholarship recipient can be from any CTAHR major but preference given to a student with a desire to work in the agricultural industry following graduation. They must be a resident of Hawaii are eligible to apply.

In addition to the scholarships listed above, CTAHR also offers scholarships through its departments like Family and Consumer Sciences Scholarships, Human Nutrition, Food and Animal Sciences Scholarships, Molecular Biosciences and Bioengineering Scholarships, Plant and Environmental Protection Sciences and Tropical Plant and Soil Sciences Scholarships respectively.

CTAHR Scholarships for New Students:

The College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources (CTAHR) has scholarships available to qualified students majoring in all of its programs. CTAHR scholarship recipients are expected to donate several hours each semester in service-related activities. Types of scholarships present are:

The CTAHR New Student Scholarship: This scholarship is available to all incoming and new freshmen and transfer students with a declared CTAHR major.

The CTAHR Centennial Scholarship: This scholarship is available to all incoming and new freshmen and transfer students with a declared CTAHR major who is first-generation college students. First generation college students are defined as first in their families attending college, whose parents have not earned a bachelor’s degree.

The CTAHR Native Hawaiian New Student Scholarship: This scholarship is available to all incoming and new freshmen and transfer students who are of Native Hawaiian ancestry with a declared CTAHR major. Application deadline is May 27, 2018.

CTAHR Scholarships for Current Students:

CTAHR offers scholarships to continuing full-time classified students in the college who maintain a GPA of 3.0 and above. The application for scholarships is now available. Applicants should submit the completed CTAHR Scholarships application form to the Office of Academic and Student Affairs in Gilmore 210 by February 16, 2015.

CTAHR Scholarships at the Department of Human Nutrition, Food and Animal Science

Harold M. Au and Alexander W.H. Kim Scholarship: Applicants must have a GPA of 3.00 are eligible. Another criterion for scholarships is applicants must be full-time FSHN senior, permanent Hawaii resident, participation in extracurricular community services in FSHN.

Elsie M. Boatman Scholarship: Applicants must have a GPA of 3.00 are eligible. Another criterion for scholarships is the Financial need, demonstrate meritorious activity in food science or human nutrition; permanent Hawaii resident; full-time FSHN student.

Louis and Rachel Henke Award: The criterion for a scholarship is that the applicant must be a Graduate level ANSC student; student must travel to a national or international meeting to present a research paper.

Jiro Matsui Scholarship Fund: Applicants must have a GPA of 3.00 are eligible. Another criterion for a scholarship is some degree of financial need, special consideration for the demonstration of appreciation for responsible pet care.

Carey D. Miller Award: Applicants must have a GPA of 3.20 is eligible. Another criterion for a scholarship is applicant must be FSHN senior (graduating in the semester of an award), enrolled in HNFAS for the last 3 semesters, participation in extracurricular community services, demonstrate meritorious activity in some additional area such as fieldwork or research.

Dr. Allen Y. Miyahara Scholarship Fund: Applicants must have a GPA of 3.00 are eligible. Another criterion for a scholarship is he should be ANSC student, some degree of financial need, special consideration for the demonstration of appreciation for human-animal bond.

Katherine Bazore Gruelle and Nobue Nishimura Endowed Scholarship Fund: Applicants must have undergraduate or graduate level HNFAS student; enrolled part time or full time; some degree of financial need are eligible.
